TEP's Evolving Business Model

Test Equipment Plus (TEP) started in 1996 with the belief that providing quality used test equipment, at affordable prices to every customer, would drive growth and foster loyalty. The addition of LCD retrofit kits for HP 8566A/B and 8568A/B spectrum analyzers in 2006 helped TEP expand its focus. 2006 also marks the beginning of dedicated repair services for HP/Agilent/Keysight step attenuators. In 2007 TEP added HP/Agilent 8560 series spectrum analyzer LCD retrofit kits to its product lineup. At the same time, TEP also decided to change its focus from used equipment sales to test equipment repair, focusing only on HP/Agilent/Keysight spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and signal generators.

Capitalizing on the success of its LCD kits, TEP expended its production side by adding 50GHz attenuator dies to further facilitate attenuator repairs and 7 GHz 1 watt GaAs amplifier MMICs to make repair of the Agilent 836xx series microwave signal generators possible. This helped establish TEP’s reputation as a world class repair facility.

The LCD kits were so well received that in 2009, TEP decided to design a compact, lightweight, and inexpensive spectrum analyzer. The goal was to provide an economical spectrum analyzer with unparalleled value compared to anything else on the market. TEP achieved that goal with the USB-SA44 spectrum analyzer which was introduced in February 2010, marking the birth of the Signal Hound line of test equipment.

Dba Signal Hound

TEP continued marketing the Signal Hound line of test equipment as a brand, until April 2014, when they also began doing business as Signal Hound. This established Signal Hound not just as a brand name, but also as a company.

Test Equipment Plus

In 2018 TEP broke away from Signal Hound to focus on the repair of HP/Agilent/Keysight attenuators. TEP is the only company to offer a one year warranty with every attenuator repair.

Warranty

Every TEP step attenuator repair comes with a 1-year warranty. If your attenuator fails for any reason other than customer caused damage please email service@teplus.com for a RMA and return your attenuator for a free repair.
